Mike: "You're a Newcomer to politics, tell me about yourself"

"After graduating from Mount Allison University, I embarked on my path as an educator, eventually becoming a Principal with the Rainbow District School Board - a position I stayed in from 2000 to 2018. During my time as an educator, I watched thousands of bright students grow up to become smart, driven, and caring members of the Sudbury community.

Outside of my career in education, I threw myself into community work with the goal of improving the quality of life for Sudbury residents. I’ve worked with the CIBC Run for the Cure, Sudbury Food Bank, Canadian Breast Cancer Society, Larch Street Kids, and the Rainbow Catholic Co-Ed Basketball Tournament. I earned my MBA in 2007, and currently hold the role of board chair for the Maison McCulloch Hospice, as well as CFO and Treasurer of small business FarExGeoMine Ltd.

Most importantly, I would not be in the position of serving without the support of my family. I have been married to my wife Catharine, a respected geologist, for 33 years and am extremely proud of my son Wilson, who has been recently drafted by the Sudbury Wolves.

My years of public service and financial experience are what Sudburians need to further their causes in the provincial legislature. I believe my no-nonsense, honest, and hard-working approach to politics will further strengthen the voices of the Sudbury community."

Thank you Mike for your question!
